[NEWTON FALLS N.Y.] On September 24, 2026, at approximately 3:40 a.m., New York State Police responded to the Newtown Falls Papermill, located on County Route 60 in the town of Clifton, for a report of suspicious activity.

Troopers arrived on scene and observed a 2004 Nissan Titan exiting the property near a large pile of scrap metal. Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the vehicle failed to comply. A pursuit was initiated and continued through the towns of Fine, Edwards, and Pitcairn before the vehicle came to a stop on Toothaker Road, a dead-end roadway.

The operator was ordered out of the vehicle and identified as Brian A. Deamer. Deamer was taken into custody without further incident.

Further investigation resulted in the recovery of multiple items of evidence from the scene.

Deamer was charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, and Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree.

Deamer was transported to SP Gouverneur, where he was processed. He was arraigned in the Town of Pitcairn Court and released on his own recognizance.
