Power Outage Affects 2,600 National Grid Customers On July 12th, 2026

On Saturday, July 12, at approximately 5:00 p.m. EDT, a power outage affected about 2,600 National Grid customers in the communities of Star Lake, Edwards, Oswegatchie, Newton Falls, Wanakena, and Cranberry Lake.
National Grid crews were dispatched shortly after the outage was reported. According to the utility, the outage was caused by an animal coming into contact with equipment at the Browns Falls Substation.
Power was fully restored to all affected customers by approximately 8:00 p.m. EDT.
